Special assembly celebrates Rwanda connection
Cramlington Town mayor, Councillor Helen Morris, was delighted to attend a special assembly at Cragside C of E Primary School that celebrated the school’s relationship with a school in Rwanda.
Pupils were invited to take part in a non-uniform day and wear the colours of the Rwandan flag – blue green and yellow.
The Mayor, pupils and staff watched a video created by the pupils at Mukuge Primary School and a presentation from the school’s partnership contact Alain who gave background information about the links between the schools.
The Cramlington pupils then showed off their Rwandan face painting and crafts and also ran a prayer station.
Mayor Cllr Morris said “I had a fabulous time at the school and was made to feel very welcome. I applaud the efforts of the pupils, staff and parents as they support the Rwanda school children and community. It’s amazing what Cragside School has achieved and the way they have reached out to support so many children in so many different ways, making such a significant difference to their lives.”
The school’s International Coordinator Helen Cowie reported that they raised £495 from the special assembly.
