Speed restrictions introduced in Hall Close

September 15, 2021

Roads in the Hall Close housing estates in Cramlington now all have a 20mph speed limit.

Residents raised their concerns about the speed of vehicles to councillors Mark Swinburn and Loraine De Simone (pictured) who represent the Village Ward on Cramlington Town Council.

They in turn approached Northumberland County Council Highways Department who agreed to install the signage.

Councillor Mark Swinburn said “I would like to remind everyone that the 20mph limit is enforceable by the police and it is proven that travelling at the slower speed reduces serious injuries and fatalities.”

“Although all the Hall Close roads now have the lower speed limit there are still some areas in the Village Ward that don’t, but it has been agreed by Highways that this will be done within this financial year.”
