Students begin work on Celebrating Cramlington newspaper
Students from Cramlington’s Cragside and St Peter’s and St Paul’s Primary Schools had the opportunity to sit down with Cramlington Town Council Deputy Mayor Helen Morris and discuss community issues important to them.
The interview was facilitated by literacy charity Bringing Words to Life, who are working in conjunction with the Cramlington Heritage Hub on a publication to celebrate sixty years of Cramlington being developed as a new town.
This interview is just one article that will be featured in the ‘Celebrating Cramlington’ publication, which will be available at the end of the year in conjunction with a number of pop up exhibitions.
Melanie J Cornish-Fleet, Bringing Words to Life CEO said “This is a great opportunity for young people to get involved in a project about the area where they live.” She continued “The young people who interviewed the Deputy Mayor worked with us on their researching and interviewing skills, areas which our programmes embed to benefit our young people in the long-term.”
‘Celebrating Cramlington’ workshops will be running in a number of primary schools and in community spaces in the coming months. If you are interested in being involved in the programme, please email CelebratingCramlington@gmail.com for information on how you can be involved.
