Town Council objects to proposed temporary access to Beacon Lane Development.
December 6, 2023
The Town Council has objected to a proposal to use Langdale Drive as a temporary access to the on-going Beacon Lane housing development.
The Town Council felt the proposal would result in an unacceptable nuisance and loss of amenity to residents on Langdale Drive and adjacent areas and could result in significant road safety issues particularly given the proximity of Beaconhill School.
The Council also raised concerns over traffic noise and pollution which will increase significantly, and the impact this will have on existing residents.
Concerns were also raised because there is no time limit attached to the application, with the potential for the proposed “temporary” route to be adopted as a permanent cut through.
Councillors expressed the view that the developers should identify an alternative route that does not impact on existing residents outside the boundary of the original application for the Beacon Lane development.
