VIDEO: A fitting finale to council-funded school holiday carnival camps!
It was Carnival time in Cramlington when youngsters who attended the Cramlington Town Council funded Carnival Camps, run by Cramlington Caribbean Crew Steel Band over the school holidays, celebrated with a finale performance for their families and friends.
Music, singing and poetry combined with music on the steel pans to create a riot of colour and laughter which delighted the audience. Cramlington Town Council’s Youth Network Coordinator Steve Beaty said “Full credit must go to Claire and her colleagues from Cramlington Caribbean Crew for the work they have put in over the last six weeks. Not only have the children who attended these sessions had a fun time, they have learnt new skills, socialised with youngsters they didn’t previously know and given a performance they can be very proud of.”
“This is one of three holiday activity schemes the Town Council has run over the summer holidays and hundreds of local children have attended them. We are delighted by the response and hope to offer more schemes in the future.”
“But today belongs to the youngsters. Everyone who attended the performance today left with a smile on their face, and that’s what it’s all about. Fantastic!”
