VIDEO: Fun and games as Alexandra Park’s refurbished play area is open again
The happy smiling faces of children enjoying a new play facility are “a joy to see”
That was the reaction of Cramlington Town Mayor Loraine De Simone when she officially unveiled the refurbished play area in Alexandra Park today.
She added “It is a delight to watch these youngsters explore the new play equipment here. This refurbishment has cost £100,000 and is a sign of Cramlington Town Council’s investment in young people and is part of a town-wide £200,000 programme of playground improvements.”
The new equipment includes the UK’s first Loly Slider – inspired by the loop of a rollercoaster this is innovative climbing structure is ideal for young people to burn energy on and specifically good for children with ADHD.
Another installation is a Spinmee Inclusive roundabout which is accessible to those with mobility impairments and can safely accommodate wheelchairs.
The area also features multi-coloured specialised surfacing that conforms to the latest safety standards.
