VIDEO: #Love Cramlington 2020 Covid Community Response Award
Cramlington Town Council Clerk Bob Baker reveals the the results of the #Love Cramlington 2020 Covid Community Response Award on behalf of Councillor John Percy.
The first runners-up are volunteers from Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project.
The team at the CVYP went over and above during the first lockdown distributing everything from Easter Eggs and Union Jack Flags to bring smiles to peoples faces.
They volunteered days, evenings, bank holidays and weekends to deliver food and help during the pandemic and have been wonderful. They always have a smile on their face and are a great example of community spirit to the youngsters they work with.
The next runner-up is Adrienne Laverick.
Adrienne had not been spending money going to exercise classes and wanted to donate this amount (anonymously) to families in need in the area.
She went on to regularly provide craft kits and then developed this by knitting hats and giving material to make masks, all without wanting any recognition. Adrienne has made such a difference to people’s lives throughout this pandemic due to her kindness, generosity and compassion .
Every town benefits from having residents like Adrienne.
And the winner is… Fiona Mitford
A number of online community groups were set up by Fiona Mitford, a community nurse from Cramlington.
Fiona developed 30+ hyper-local groups and central Cramlington Coordinators hub, with volunteers coordinating information into each group and enabling neighbours to help and support each other through the lockdown.
These groups proved invaluable to get the right information out to local residents from reputable sources. Fiona is currently going through the process of setting up Cramlington Cares to further support people and create opportunities for well being through volunteering.
She is involved in so many community initiatives it is difficult to choose a couple of examples, lets just say that Cramlington is a better place because of the work she does that benefits so many organisations and individuals.
Fiona you are a worthy winner of the Covid -19 Community Response award.
