VIDEO: #Love Cramlington Awards 2020 – Culture Award

December 16, 2020

Cramlington Town Councillor Pat Heard was delighted to announce the runners-up and winner for the #Love Cramlington Awards 2020 Culture Award.

Our first runner-up is Claire Darcy from Northumberlandia.

Claire is the Events and Site Officer for Northumberland Wildlife Trust and passionate about Northumberlandia.

She is a real force of nature and on a mission to enable local community groups and organisations to become more involved in environmental projects and initiatives.

A cheery welcome and a can-do attitude comes guaranteed and Claire uses her natural skill for creative thinking to do all she can to help and support this increasingly popular attraction  which features the iconic landform and its surrounding greenspace.

The next runner-up is Kathy Dawson.

Kathy started Cramlington Community Arts Project which offers an opportunity for members to explore a wide range of art and craft forms as well as make new friends in a welcoming environment. She  does this while offering a great deal of support to members of her family who have serious medical issues  and friends. Kathy’s nomination stated “She is a well loved and valued member of Cramlington and the wider area. She jumps at the chance to help and support whenever she can.

The winner is…Northern Butterflies!

Northern Butterflies provides a sustainable and bespoke service that engages people in creative activities.

They promote social inclusion and interaction with their learners who range from 24 years to 75 years of age.

They enable potential and improve well-being for those experiencing mental health issues and who have a learning or physical disability.

Northern Butterflies became a registered charity in May 2013 and secured premises in 2014 in Manor Walks. They were offered a community allotment via Cramlington Town Council to manage and work closely with other community groups. They have had a wealth of volunteers working on the hard landscaping of the space.

Well done Northern Butterflies, through your creative endeavours you are a positive influence on those you connect with.
