VIDEO: Who wants to be a volunteer? You do!

May 24, 2021

Cramlington Town Council Community and Youth team are looking forward to the forthcoming National Volunteers Week (1-7 June) as it will give them the opportunity to acknowledge all the fantastic volunteering that goes on in our town!

Cramlington Town Council is working with Northumberland Communities Together and Northumberland CVA to organise and promote a series of events that will inform you about volunteering in Cramlington –  whether you want to be a volunteer or are involved in an organisation that needs volunteers.

On Friday June 4th there is a Volunteer Info Session at The Hub at Cramlington between 11am and 1pm. (Building next to Concordia) Cramlington, NE23 6YB Groups attending include St John Ambulance, The Bridge Project, Northern Butterflies and Northumberland CVA.

The folk at Cramlington Community Allotment (Lanercost Park, Cramlington,  NE23 6RY) are holding an open day on Saturday June 5th between 11am and 5pm, all welcome. The allotment is run by Northern Butterflies who have great experience with volunteers and are always on the lookout for more! In our video we hear from Sam Goodlet about the great work happening at the allotment.

If evenings when you are available why not call in Beacon Hill Community Centre (Langdale Drive, Beaconhill Glade, Cramlington, Northumberland, NE23 8EH) on Wednesday the 2nd of June between 6:30pm and 8:30pm where there will be a range of organisations attending including Beaconhill Community Centre, Cramlington United, Blyth Valley CVA, Northumberland CVA and Bright Red Cancer Charity).

So far, we have had feedback showing that there are volunteer opportunities available with organisations involved with:

Horticulture/gardening skills or an interest in learning.

Outdoor art projects including murals, sculptures, wood working skills, mobile making etc

Clearing wildspaces, creating paths, tree planting and maintenance of woodlands.

Administration

Management committee roles – Treasurer

Trustee position

Director (CIC) with experience around safeguarding

Ad-hoc volunteering opportunities such as bucket collections and tombolas

Workplace volunteering, including event and fundraising opportunities along with skill-based volunteering

At all the events social distancing guidelines will be maintained.

Go on be a volunteer  – you know you want to!
