Weldon Road Play Area
Children can look forward to new and hugely improved play facilities at Weldon Road Play area in Cramlington, as contractors prepare to start work to replace the old play area mid-November.
Cramlington Town Council is spending £80,000 to refurbish the site which will include increasing the size of the play area, installing safety play surfaces, and improving drainage issues.
There will be a range of exciting new play equipment for children to enjoy including a standing seesaw, slides, climbing nets, swings and spinners.
Council Mark Swinburn, Chairman of Cramlington Town Council Development and Strategic Management Committee said “This is exciting news! It is important that children have a safe environment where they can run around and use up their energy and we have an increasing number of young families in the area so I’m sure the improved play area will be well used.”
“Cramlington Town Council is proud of the fifteen play facilities we have across the town and the refurbished Weldon Road site is part of our rolling programme of our play area investment. This work follows on from improvements at Horton Park and the creation of the £100,000 ‘Annie’s Playground’ within Alexandra Park. We have further exciting plans in the pipeline so watch this space!”
It is estimated that the work will take approximately four weeks to complete, weather dependant.
