Westmorland Way junction

Information requested at the June meeting of Cramlington Town Council has provided additional detail to the complex project currently being put together to resolve the long standing safety concerns for the Westmorland Way junction in the town.
This busy junction has been a major concern for many years, and previous attempts of re-marking the road and junction have failed to provide any suitable solution that delivers the
benefits.

 

Work ongoing for the past year to carefully design a roundabout that would meet current, and also future needs, is focussing on a considerable road engineering project that would see changes to retail exit priorities as well as potential access to new public parking areas. Whilst commercial discussions are presently underway, once completed, planning applications can then be submitted which should see work commence later in the year.
