Work begins today to improve play area surfacing
Following the recent installation of new play equipment at Horton Park play area, work has started to install sustainable safety surfacing in an area which was susceptible to drainage issues, leaving the area virtually unusable at times.
This work had to wait until the weather conditions were suitable and contractors are beginning the installation today with an estimate that it will take 10 days to complete.
Specialist bound shredded rubber mulch is being laid underneath the play equipment. This hard-wearing surface offers impact protection ideal for areas used by children.
The £30,000 investment by Cramlington Town Council to resurface this play area is part of the council’s wider £200,000 improvement programme of the play areas across the town.
Councillors Helen Morris and Wayne Daley are seen just before the work commenced in the play area which is situated in their North ward.
