Free Summer Holiday Activities: Thank You Cramlington!
This summer, Cramlington Town Council funded over 800 free holiday activity places across three fantastic local providers, giving children and young people across Cramlington the chance to stay active, try new things and have fun throughout the six-week holidays.
Rockets Community Foundation
Rockets Community Foundation delivered their Summer Multi-Sport Camp in Eastfield, with Cramlington Town Council funding 360 places for children in Reception to Year 6. As well as fun multi-sport activities throughout the day, children also received free breakfast and lunch. It was a brilliant offer for local families and the places were well used throughout the holidays.
Control and Move Fitness CIC
Control and Move Fitness CIC ran acro and circus camp sessions at Beaconhill Community Centre, with Cramlington Town Council funding 350 places across the summer. Demand was clear from the outset, with all places snapped up within 12 hours of going live. It was fantastic to see so many families, including many new to Control and Move, making the most of these sessions.
Luk-Luk Productions
Luk Luk Productions ran free two-hour sessions throughout the holidays at Mayfield Community Centre and Northumberlandia, offering drumming, filming, dance and fashion activities. A wonderful opportunity for young people to get creative and try something different over the summer.
And throughout the full six weeks, the Cramlington Town Council funded Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project ‘Bus 4 Us’ mobile youth van has been out and about across Cramlington’s parks and open spaces, bringing outdoor games, activities and refreshments to young people right on their doorstep.
A huge thank you to all the staff, coaches and volunteers at Rockets Community Foundation, Luk Luk Productions, Control and Move Fitness CIC and CVYP for everything they have put into this summer. The feedback from families across Cramlington has been brilliant, and that is entirely down to the hard work and dedication of the people delivering these sessions.
With the summer holidays now over, we wish all Cramlington students the very best for the new school year ahead.
